Our Indonesia itinerary turned out as follows.

Jogyakarta Jan 7 to Jan 12

via flight from Penang (8h)

Major activities:
  • Visited Borobudur, a massive buddhist temple
  • Visited Prambanan, a massive hindu complex
  • River tubing… along an outdoor river and a cave river
  • Met a great driver… he took us everywhere
  • Visited the Mount Merapi volcano
  • Tasted great local street-side food
  • Listened to traditional music… not our favourite
  • Took classes on how to make Batik
  • Visited a local beach visit with an awesome view
  • Walked around the city
  • Incurred a serious toe injury (Mike) while walking… not much fun
  • Picked up a nasty ear infection (Jacob)… got to visit a local clinic with no english spoken

via flight from Jogyakarta (1.5 h)

Major activities:
  • Witnessed REALLY dirty beaches thanks to pollution
  • Visited our first Wendy’s in months
  • Walked the beach for miles
  • Experienced big storms (torrential downpours)
  • Bought new shoes for Jacob
  • Learned to surfing (Emma and Jacob)
  • Chilling by the pool (everyone)
  • Played on the watersides at Waterbom

Ubud, Bali Jan 19 to Jan 24

via taxi from Kuta (1h)

Major activities:
  • Cooking class with plantation introduction
  • Good food… Great mexican and pizza
  • Doctor visit for Jacob (more ear infection)
  • Monkey forest
  • Assaulted by monkeys (sun screen stolen)
  • Meeting new friends

via taxi from Ubud (1h)

Major activities:
  • Not much. Not worth the visit.

Seminyak, Bali Jan 25 to Jan 31

via taxi from Nusa Dua (45m)

Major activities:
  • Bit of luxury… private villa with pool… breakfast served
  • Watched movies
  • More beach walks
  • Traditional dance show
  • Assaulted by monkeys… second time… Mum’s stuffy got shredded
  • Mum got sick

  2. I’m Spanish living in Barcelona. I was in Indonesia 15 years ago and it was a wonderful trip. I visited Sumatra, Java. Bali and Swalawesi. I`ll never forget all the wonderful places I saw!!!!!
