I’m reporting from the Great Wall of China.

Hi, I’m a reporter, and I’m here reporting live for you from the Great Wall of China!

Just kidding, but that is what my blog post is about. I went to the Great Wall a little while ago and it was an amazing experience! I thought that I should write a blog post about it.

This is the cable car lift that you take up to the Great Wall of China. It was super high.

The first thing I want to tell you is that it’s the best in October.  I went in September and thought it was pretty spectacular. The reason October is a good time to go is because it has beautiful fall colours all around. I would also recommend bringing a lot of water because it can get really hot. Unless you are going in the Winter, then you have to bundle up as much as possible because it gets freezing up there.

Here I am with my dad and brother, Jacob.

The original wall was built a little over 2000 years ago. The GreatWall used to be earthen before they started to use rocks and bricks to make it stronger. The freaky part about the earthen mixture they used is that one of the materials they added was the bones of the deceased workers. It served as a defence mechanism butwas never used because the bad people just bribed the gate guard and he let them in.

Curious George loved it here. He didn't have to climb the stairs! Lucky monkey.

Two of the best places near Beijing to see the Great Wall are Badaling and Mutianyu. To get down from the top of the mountain there is a toboggan that goes down to the bottom and a ski lift to get to the top. It is really fun and it goes pretty fast.

The chute was super fun. I wish it was a longer ride.

I really hope that if you go to the Great Wall of China that you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

  1. We’ll make it to the Great Wall one day. It’s on my list of must-see. I’m pretty sure Connor & Keira will LOVE the chute. Looks like a lot of fun. Incidentally, Connor’s just chosen Ancient China for his current school project. I thought of you guys then and how you’re there experiencing life, learning and seeing the history.

  2. I appreciated the thorough report Emma. It makes me want to be like Curious George and make the trip. It’s funny that I never considered that they would have fall colours like we have here in Canada. Great information!
